Maruti Suzuki launches Ritz

Stylish, Spacious, India's first BS-IV compliant fuel efficient Passenger car

India's number one car maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited exposed the long awaited Ritz here today. The automobile is available in both, petrol and diesel engine options. With the Ritz - an improved position hatchback positioned at the premium-end of the compact vehicle market - Maruti Suzuki consolidates its leadership in the highly competitive compact auto segment. The Ritz incorporates the BS-IV and OBD-I compliance much before the regulation being enforced in the country. The company commands the biggest share of the market of 58 p.c. in the compact vehicle ( A2 ) segment. The Ritz has been in particular designed for India. Maruti Suzuki engineers worked with the Suzuki design team in Japan to co-design the automobile and carry out India-specific changes. Displaying the Ritz, Shinzo Nakanishi, Handling Director and Chairman , Maruti Suzuki India Limited asserted, "The Ritz mixes modern ECU design, the sportiness of the Swift, the most recent in engine technology and Suzuki's worldwide commended experience in compact automobiles.

The Ritz is another step by Indian engineers towards capacity development in auto research and design." The heart of the Ritz are the brand spanking new 1.2 Litre K12M Gas engine and the 1.3 DDiS Diesel power-plant, each offering ideal performance and fuel potency. Alongside this, the transmission system has been optimized for the Ritz to match Indian driving habits. With this the Ritz offers the best-in-class blend of fuel potency and drivability.


With its overall length of 3.7 metres height of 1.6 metres and a width of 1.7 metres, the Ritz offers a comfy spacious cabin with sufficient legroom for five adults.

Regardless of its giant frame, the Ritz has a tight turning radius of 4.7 meters. The suspension of the vehicle with a high ground clearance of 170 mm has been tuned for Indian road conditions, and provides glorious handling and ride comfort. The rear wheel housing has been altered to deal with the bigger and wider tyres used only in Ritz. The client will find a fine balance between Emotion and Functionality in the Ritz. Being a vehicle intended for the family, the back seat has been designed for snug seating of 3 passengers.

* the successful 1.3-litre, Common Rail 16-valve diesel ( DDiS ) unit that delivers a maximum power of 75PS. ( Fantastic fuel potency of 21.1 kmpl : Licensed as per CMVR rule 115 ) The all-new K12M engine on the Ritz Gas has been specifically designed for Indian applications. The BS-IV and OBD-1 compliant engine promises to be best in class fuel efficient, high performance, low emission, light weight, with lower NVH ( Noise, Vibration & Rudeness ).

To make the all-aluminium engine lighter and more fuel efficient, high grade plastic parts have been at length used. The skirt area of the piston has been shortened to reduce weight, which assists in lowering friction and reinforce fuel potency. Maruti Suzuki engineers worked as a part of Suzuki's engine groups for design, calibration and testing of the engine in Japan and in India. This is a step further in reinforcing the engine development capacity. Some other valid features of the all-new K12M are :
* Inventive rocker-less DOHC cam shaft, plastic intake manifold and offset crank shaft with low stress rings to reduce losses and improve fuel potency
* Smart Distributor Less Ignition ( SDLI ) system with dedicated plug top coils, High pressure fuel system & sophisticated injectors for superior atomization to provide uniform and optimized combustion for better performance.

* Optimized cylinder block, light piston and nut-less con rod for light weight configuration
* Improved engine rigidity and use of complicated technology like silent timing chain to enhance NVH traits * First engine oil change after ten thousand kms as against standard one thousand kms
* Spark plugs first change at forty thousand kms as against conventional twenty thousand kms The Ritz Diesel is powered by the super successful 1.3L DDIS power-house, which propels the Swift and Swift Dzire.

Groovy Variants The automobile should be available in 5 variants, 3 variants with gas engine - LXi, VXi and ZXi and 2 variants with Diesel engine - LDi and VDi. While Airbags and ABS are standard on ZXi, the Vxi and VDi variants have ABS as an optional feature.
